After five years of operation, the Pottawattamie County Rural Recycling Center continues to serve residents throughout the County, with goals to create even more avenues for local participation. In 2018, the Pottawattamie County Rural Recycling Center (PCRRC) was constructed in Oakland. PCPH along with Douglas County Health Department, Sarpy/Cass Health Department, and Three Rivers Public Health Department are teaming up with COMMANDO to launch an initiative to get a head start on prevention by warning about the risks of the disease and the need for vaccination.
